Alpha

Wide tuning. Passively stable.

The Stuttgart Instruments Alpha is an ultrafast, wavelength-tunable frequency conversion system. The compact, passively stable FF-OPO (fiber-feedback optical parametric oscillator) design provides high power and spectral stability, repeatable wavelength setting, and shot-noise-limited output where required. Available with several pump laser options at different repetition rates and pulse durations.

Performance

Specified to the last digit

Besides broad tunability and full automation the Alpha features:

  • Power stability < 0.5 %rms
  • Spectral stability < 0.02 %rms
  • Repeatability < 0.1 nm
  • RIN < −160 dB/Hz

Applications

Example experiments

  • (s)SNOM microscopy and imaging
  • Coherent Raman (SRS, CARS) microscopy
  • (M)IR spectroscopy
  • Time-resolved pump–probe spectroscopy
  • Vibrational spectroscopy
  • Multiphoton fluorescence spectroscopy

Options

Tailor the Alpha to your setup

Replicator

Replicator option

The replicator option stores and recalls complete system states (spectrum, output power, module settings). All modules are supported. Integrated in AlphaTune and accessible via the same API used for third-party automation.

Modulator

Modulator option

The Alpha can be equipped with a high-speed optical modulator. All outputs are modulated through a single input signal. The system comes with a fully integrated modulation architecture including a precision electronic oscillator and full software support.

Narrowband

Narrowband option

An optional narrowband configuration delivers a significantly reduced linewidth for high-resolution spectroscopy while retaining the Alpha's broad tunability.

Multi-branch

Multi-branch option

Two or more independently tunable, optically synchronized branches are available. Used for pump–probe setups and for feeding multiple experiments from one system.
